Rooted in the spirit of storytelling and cultural expression, Payadora Trio was founded in 2023 by Madison Booth, Matthew Storie, and Carmen Quesada with the mission of amplifying voices historically underrepresented in Western art music. Inspired by the 19th-century Argentine payadores that once traveled the countryside telling stories through song, this ensemble seeks to bring that same storytelling character to the stage through the unique combination of flute, saxophone, and piano. Payadora Trio’s commitment to exploring musical styles beyond the conventional canon has led them to collaborate with Colombian composer Felipe Hoyos-González and Mexican pianist & arranger Jesús Fuentes.
