What to expect at the Omaha Flute Institute...
Flute Foundations
Flute lessons that give you the foundations you need for resonant flute tone, secure finger technique, and clear articulation. We also explore extended techniques like beatbox flute and flutter tonguing!

A Love for ALL Music
There are so many musical genres to play and explore. Flutists are not only encouraged to learn classical music, but also to expand their musical explorations to other genres... we play Mozart and we love a good Disney duet.
Musicianship
Lessons will ensure that you're feeling confident in your ability to read musical notation including note names, rhythms, and musical markings/terms.
Confidence & Grit
Learning music requires us to try and try again before we achieve success. Music is unique in that it asks us to be independent and curious learners on a regular basis. By exploring our creativity and challenging ourselves musically, flutists develop their confidence and grit.
Artistry & Creativity
Lessons encourage flutists to access their own inner artistry and creativity to express themselves fully through music.
Community
Not only do flutists participate in regular individual lessons, but they are also invited to studio recitals, workshops, chamber ensembles, and retreats. This helps us form a community of flutists who support each other and share their music. Music brings us together!
My Teaching Philosophy
I believe that music is one of the most transformational activities that we can participate in. As a young flutist, I was given the opportunity to embrace my individuality, self-accountability, creativity, independence, and joy.
My primary goal as a music educator is for my flute students to have access to that same experience. Research has shown time and time again the power of music positively impacts our brains, bodies, and emotional wellbeing. I believe that flute lessons not only build and refine a flutist’s flute playing, but also create opportunities for flutists to build confidence, embrace their whole selves, and positively impact their community around them. Whatever professional interests a flutist may have, my hope is that they’ll continue to find joy and fulfillment in playing their flute for their entire lives, and that they will share this joy with others.
I have taught flutists of all ages (10-80 years old!) from beginners to advanced ability levels. My ideal flutists are flutists who bring enthusiasm, curiosity, adaptability, and dedication to our time together.
I believe that learning requires courage as it is often our mistakes that help us grow the most. By creating safe space for students to wholeheartedly be themselves and develop their musical abilities, I create a unique experience for flutists to improve their playing and develop their self-trust.
